Ptuj
A place where history is captured at every turn
Ptuj, also called Petovio in Roman times, is the oldest Slovenian city, which has captured history in every corner. The town on the hill is proudly guarded by Ptuj Castle, a mighty fortress that hides invaluable treasures, the oldest functioning wine cellars and a precious drop.
The city dresses in especially beautiful colors during the carnival, when it is filled with many Kurents, who drive away winter with their bouncing and ringing and call spring into the country.
