The Pleterje Monastery is also worth a visit. The Kartuzija is completely closed to visitors, but it is possible to visit the old Gothic church, and you can learn about the history of the Carthusian monastery and the life of the Carthusians in a multivision show.
You can explore life in the open-air museum of Pleterje, which is an exceptional pearl in the display of the exhibits of folk architecture and life in Dolenjska. Within the museum, there is a mini zoo.
Visit Kostanjevica on Krka, the smallest and one of the oldest towns in Slovenia, located on the island about 500 meters long and about 200 meters wide in the River Krka riverbed. Get across the pedestrian bridge and walk along two streets, see Forme viva and go to one of the largest galleries in Slovenia in the former Cistercian monastery, the Bozidar Jakac Gallery.
The Kostanjevica cave, a karst cave with typical karst crests, is located at a distance of about two kilometres, where the temperature does not exceed 12 degrees in the summer, or in the Krakovski gozd, one of the most beautiful Slovenian forests near the town of Kostanjevica na Krki.
Cultural and historical research is offered by the Žužemberk Castle, a typical medieval fortress located in the Žužemberk settlement, located on the terrace above the Krka river, which can be seen from June to October and Kostel Castle, which is, with the corresponding market forms, the second largest castle complex in Slovenia and represents an important legacy of cultural heritage in the country. After the reconstruction, the castle is again on display for visitors since June 2018.
